CHICAGO — South Dakota State linebacker Adam Bock is once again a candidate for the Stats Perform Buck Buchanan Award, which is presented by FedEx Ground and given annually to the top defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
Â
A senior from Solon, Iowa, Bock was a finalist in 2021 for the Buck Buchanan Award, finishing 11th in that year's balloting, and was on the preseason watch list a year ago. He missed a month of action during the 2022 season due to injury, but returned during the Jackrabbits' playoff run to finish second on the team with 76 total tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks.
Â
For his career, Bock has registered 279 tackles and 8.5 sacks while earning first-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors each of the past two seasons.
Â
The 35-player Buck Buchanan Award Watch List will be updated periodically throughout the 2023 campaign. A national panel will vote on the award at the end of the regular season, with the winner announced in January in conjunction with the FCS national championship game in Frisco, Texas.
