BOISE, Idaho - South Dakota State volleyball wrapped the non-conference season with a three-set loss to Loyola-Marymount Saturday morning at Bronco Gym.
The Jackrabbits were held to an .085 attack rate by the LMU defense and notched only 25 kills in the contest, both season lows. SDSU did put down six ace serve, one of its best marks this year, but also committed six serving errors and six reception errors.
Masa Scheierman paced the Jackrabbit offense for the first time this season. She recorded eight kills, followed by
Sylvie Zgonc with seven kills and
Sydni Schetnan with four. Zgonc also recorded consecutive aces in the opening set.
Rylee Martin had 12 assists and
Raegen Reilly had nine.
Libero
Stella Winterfeld led the defense with eight digs. Schetnan added five.
Elyse Winter posted three blocks.
LMU hit .337 as a team with 43 kills in the match. The Lions had five players with at least six kills, led by Michelle Shaffer's eight kills at a .429 clip. Sam Hastings tallied 17 digs, five assists and four ace serves.
NOTES
- South Dakota State ends the non-conference season with a 2-10 record. LMU improves to 7-3.
- SDSU is now 0-1 all-time against LMU.
