NEW YORK — Four South Dakota State standouts, led by first-team selection Gus Miller at center, were honored Tuesday as members of The Associated Press FCS All-America team.
Â
A senior from Brookings, Miller has anchored a Jackrabbit offensive line that paved the way for SDSU to average 36.6 points and 441.9 yards of total offense during the regular season. Miller was honored as the 2023 recipient of the Rimington Award as the top center in the Football Championship Subdivision and earlier this month was named to the all-Missouri Valley Football Conference Team for the second year in a row.
Â
Earning second-team recognition from the SDSU offensive line was Evan Beerntsen. A native of De Pere, Wisconsin, Beerntsen has been a three-year starter at right guard. In 12 games during the 2024 regular season, the Jackrabbits allowed only six sacks and led the FCS in fewest tackles for loss allowed at 2.58 per game.
Â
Also receiving second-team honors from the defensive side of the ball were sixth-year seniors Adam Bock at linebacker and defensive back Dalys Beanum.
Â
A native of Solon, Iowa, Bock registered a team-best 75 tackles during the regular season and also led the squad with eight tackles for loss. A three-time first-team honoree on the all-MVFC squad, he currently ranks second on the career tackles chart at SDSU with 438.
Â
Beanum proved to be a lock-down cornerback for a Jackrabbit defense that allowed only eight passing touchdowns in 12 regular season games and did not allow a team to top 200 passing yards in league play. He ended the regular season with 37 total tackles (25 solo), while also contributing an interception, a pass breakup and a forced fumble. His 12 career interceptions rank in a tie for third in program history.
Â
The AP All-America team is selected for the AP by a panel of sports information directors and sports writers who cover the FCS.
Â
South Dakota State, 12-2 overall, will travel to North Dakota State Saturday for an FCS national semifinal game. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. in Fargo, North Dakota. The two-time defending national champion Jackrabbits are making their fifth consecutive appearance in the FCS semifinals and seventh in the last eight years.
