STANFORD, CA – Distance runners for South Dakota State took centerstage on Saturday across three meets, as a duo competed down south in Texas, during opening weekend of the outdoor track and field season.
WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY DISTANCE CARNIVAL
Jackson Dutcher had himself a showing down in St. Louis, Missouri, winning section one of the 1500-meter run with a locking of 3:50.51 in his event debut.
Christian Noble took third place with a clocking of 9:21.68 in section one of the men's 3000-meter steeplechase as
Cormick Logue ran a 14:55.86 in section eight of the 5000m for a 10
th place finish.
In section one of the 800-meter run,
Harley Fischer ran a 2:16.53 for seventh place while
Kayla Christopherson finished sixth in section one of the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:27.02.
Three Jackrabbits competed in section six of the women's 5000-meter run, with
Jenna Soine (17:58.67, PR) in 23
rd,
Emma Gonzalez (18:05.11, event debut) in 24
th and
Emma Ecker (18:33.41, event debut) in 27
th.
During Thursday night's event,
Carson Noecker crossed the finish line in 29:29.84 for sixth place in his section and the sixth-fastest time in school history.
Additionally,
Nicole Greyer finished with a time of 17:08.37 as
Caitlin Bright ran a 17:12.79 for 18
th in their section of the 5000-meter run.
STANFORD INVITATIONAL
Out in California,
Brandon Kampsen clocked a 3:53.62 in his 1500-meter run debut for ninth place in section five of the event and
Daniel Burkhalter ran a 3:47.80 for 11th place in section one.
Cody Larson claimed 10
th place in section three of the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:00.61 while
Josh Becker ran a personal best 9:01.58 for eighth place in section four.
MIKE FANELLI TRACK CLASS
In section three of the women's 1500-meter run,
Claire Beckman took fifth place after running a 4:38.34.
Jessica Lutmer jumped into SDSU outdoor history, running the seventh-fastest 5000-meter run time of 16:50.84. Her clocking gave her a fourth place finish in section two of the event.
Will Lohr finished fourth in section three of the 1500-meter run, clocking a 3:55.18
TEXAS RELAYS
Down in Austin, Texas,
Brielle Dixon won her heat of the 100-meter hurdle in 13.83 (+4.1 m/s), finishing seventh overall.
Savannah Risseeuw also clocked a 14.27 (+4.2 m/s) for fith in her heat and 29
th overall.
Action resumes on Saturday with the final day of the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, beginning at 11:30 a.m. PT, and the Bobcat Invitational, starting at 10 a.m.
