MADISON, SD – The Jackrabbit track and field squads claimed four event victories in throwing events and garnered several new personal bests throughout the meet at the DSU Twilight on Tuesday evening.
Hunter Wallster took the first event win of the day, claiming first in the hammer throw with his mark of 194-07.00, as
Ryan Hackbart threw a PR of 159-05.00 for seventh place.
Lee Reiser won the shot put with his new personal best throw of 55-03.00 while
Caiden Fredrick finished third with a 51-08.50.
Ethan Fischer finished atop the discus throw, winning the event with a 172-06.00 while Fredrick threw a PR of 168-11.00 for second and Hackbart was seventh with a 144-01.00.
On the women's side of action,
Milee Young took the crown in the discus throw, finishing first with a mark of 147-00.00.
Kaitlynn Bot (122-07.00) was fifth,
Josie Curry (117-09.00) finished eighth and
Lydia Hill (115-07.00) took 10
th place.
Bot went on to throw a mark of 38-09.00 for ninth place in the shot put as Curry took 10
th place with a 35-11.25.
All three Jackrabbits competing in the women's hammer throw earned new personal bests, led by Curry (158-11.00) in third place.
Kirsten Kilker (151-00.00) claimed eighth place and Hill (142-09.00) was 10
th overall.
Taylor Haring finished seventh overall in the javelin throw with her mark of 100-06.00.
On the track,
Emily Plucker led a pack of Jackrabbits in the 800-meter run. She clocked a new PR of 2:18.56 for second place, followed by
Laura Bogue (2:22.29) in sixth,
Selma Dingmann (2:23.63) was seventh and
Nicole Swanson (2:28.46, PR) finished 12
th.
UP NEXT: SDSU will compete at the Gary Wilson Invitational in Minneapolis and the Mount Marty Twilight in Yankton on Wednesday.
