BROOKINGS, S.D. — U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association listed South Dakota State University men's and women's track and field as an All-Academic Team along with five student-athletes as All-Academic Athletes as announced this past Monday.
USTFCCCA states that teams must finish the academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The men's track and field team finished the season with a 3.34 GPA to make the list, while the women's team ended the academic year with a 3.49 GPA.
Ethan Fischer (agriculture business) represented the men's team as an All-Academic Athlete. On the women's side,
Brielle Dixon (physical education),
Leah Hisken (history curriculum and instruction),
Madison Kizer (psychology), and
Nora Peterson (human biology) represented the Jacks.
To be named an All-Academic Athlete, student-athletes must finish the semester with a 3.25 GPA or higher, have completed at least two semesters at the nominating institution, and have finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event. For outdoor track and field, the student-athlete must have participated in any NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships round.
