ST. LOUIS — South Dakota State safety Jalen B. Lee was honored Monday as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Jackrabbits' 35-14 road win Oct. 18 at Murray State.
A junior from Wentzville, Missouri, Lee ended two Murray State scoring chances with interceptions inside the 20-yard line as part of a four-interception performance by the Jackrabbit defense. His first interception came at the SDSU 18 on the opening drive of the game while later picking off a pass at the Jackrabbit 15 in the fourth quarter. Â
Lee also registered five tackles for a Jackrabbit defense that forced 10 turnovers in its three league games.
The second-ranked Jackrabbits host No. 1 North Dakota State Saturday in the annual Dakota Marker game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium with the game nationally televised on ESPNU.
