BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State wrestling program added four future Jackrabbits to the program on National Signing Day.
The additions are:
Cavin Carlson is a two-time state placer from Willmar, Minnesota. He was the MSHSL AAA runner-up in 2025 at 139 pounds and secured a third-place finish in 2024 at 133 pounds. He holds a 70-17 record overall through his high school career and is projected to wrestle at 141 or 149 pounds as a Jackrabbit.
Brock Johnson is a three-time Kansas State Champion from Paola High School. He has won state championships at 138, 126 and 106 pounds throughout his high school career. Johnson is coming off a 45-0 junior season, the first undefeated season of his high school career, after losing only seven matches in his first two championship conquests. He is projected to wrestle at 141 or 149 pounds for the Jackrabbits.
Riley Johnson is a three-time state placer and a two-time state champion from Omaha Skutt High School. He has won both of his state championships in Class B at 165 pounds. In addition to his state championships, Johnson was a double 16U Fargo All-American in 2024 in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. He is projected to wrestle at SDSU at 184 pounds.
Tyson Martin is a three-time state place from La Crosse, Wisconsin. Martin has runner-up finishes at 190 and 195 pounds, as well as a fourth-place finish at 215 pounds, in 2024, after being injured in the semifinals. He has a career record of 118-10 and is ranked as the #1 D3 285-pounder heading into his senior season at Aquinas High School. In addition, he has put up 5-2 and 4-2 records at the Fargo Nationals in consecutive seasons. He is projected to wrestle at 285 pounds for the Jackrabbits.
The Jacks begin dual competition on Friday, going up against Augustana at First Bank & Trust Arena at 7 p.m., before finishing the weekend off with the Warren Williamson Daktronics Invitational on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m.
