BROOKINGS, S.D. – Three South Dakota State volleyball alumnus are wrapping up their 2025-26 seasons in professional leagues abroad.
CRYSTAL BURK
Crystal Burk is in her second season with Rote Raben Vilsbiburg in Germany. She has played more than three years of professional volleyball since her graduation from South Dakota State.
Burk, an outside hitter, has twice been named MVP of the match this season and is a regular in the starting lineup. Rote Raben is 25-1 on the year and has secured the league championship title with two games remaining.
Before joining the Red Ravens, Burk played with Gislaved Elit in Sweden and CAV Esquimo in Spain.
"My professional career has been a challenge that I have embraced and grown from," said Burk. "Although I am fortunate to do what I love every day, each day brings new responsibilities and lessons that continue to influence my growth as both a person and a player. Along this path, I have met many different people, and I am grateful for each of them. SDSU played a crucial role in making this dream possible, and I am forever thankful for the opportunity the school provided."
Burk played five seasons at South Dakota State from 2018-22. She ranks third in program history for career kills (1,658) and was a two-time Summit League First Team selection.
CAMRYN HONN
Camryn Honn, a setter, began her professional career in June 2025 in Portugal, where she has played with the Belenenses women's team. Belensnses, based in Lisbon, is 33-3 in the 2025-26 season.
"Competing professionally while living abroad has pushed me in new ways, and being part of a club with such a strong, supportive culture has made this chapter really special," said Honn of her experience abroad. "I'm grateful for my time at SDSU, which helped me prepare for this level with confidence."
Honn played one season at South Dakota State and helped the Jacks secure the Summit League regular season title and NCAA at-large bid in 2024.
SYDNI SCHETNAN
Sydni Schetnan signed with AEK Athens in January 2026 and recently completed her first season with the team. AEK Athens finished sixth in the league standings and was eliminated in the semifinals of the tournament.
"Playing overseas in Athens, Greece has given me the chance to experience new and exciting opportunities that I never would have had if I hadn't taken this step," said Schetnan.
Schetnan, a middle blocker, played three seasons with the Jackrabbits from 2023-25. She helped the Jackrabbits win two Summit League regular season titles and earn two at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament. Schetnan is SDSU's career blocks per set leader (1.15) and ranks third all-time for career hitting percentage (.331).
