Chris Meyers joined the South Dakota State football coaching staff in February 2022 and is in charge of the Jackrabbits' tight ends. He added to his duties by taking over as the program's recruiting coordinator following the 2022 campaign.
During his first season with the Jackrabbits, Meyers mentored one of the top tight end tandems in the Football Championship Subdivision. Tucker Kraft (first team) and Zach Heins (second team) each were honored on the all-Missouri Valley Football Conference team, with Kraft repeating on All-America teams selected by the Associated Press and Stats Perform. Kraft would go on to be selected in the third round of the 2023 National Football League Draft by the Green Bay Packers.
Heins turned in an All-America season of his own in 2023, earning a spot on the Walter Camp FCS All-America First Team as he closed out his career 10th on the SDSU all-time charts with 18 receiving touchdowns. The Sioux Falls native, who was a repeat selection to the all-MVFC Second Team along with position mate Mike Morgan, later signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Meyers previously served as an offensive line graduate assistant at Oklahoma State, where he worked with a unit that cleared the way for 2019 NCAA rushing champion Chuba Hubbard. The 2021 Oklahoma State team played in the Big 12 Football Championship and closed a 12-2 season with a win over Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.

A 2015 graduate of Texas Christian University, Meyers began his coaching career as an offensive line assistant for teams that combined for a 23-3 record and two bowl victories during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He then moved on to Stephen F. Austin for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, working as offensive line quality control coach.
