Matt Young brings a winning background to South Dakota State as he begins his duties as offensive quality control. His responsibilities include film breakdown and organization of the scout team defense.
A 2017 graduate of the University of Sioux Falls, Young played on both sides of the ball for the Cougars from 2013-17. He played quarterback for three seasons before switching to a role in the secondary. The Phoenix, Arizona, native was a member of USF’s Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship team in 2016 and played on teams that made four consecutive postseason appearances.
Prior to arriving at SDSU, Young served a five-month stint as an offensive assistant at the University of Minnesota.
Young graduated with honors from USF with degrees in psychology, social science and criminal justice. He earned academic all-NSIC distinction five times.
