2015-16: Put together a strong redshirt season as he compiled a 16-5 record in open tournaments ... of his 16 victories, 11 came by pin … recorded pins of three of four opponents en route to 133-pound title at the Grand View Open … notched four falls in winning title at Finn Grinaker Open … in final competition of the season, turned in a third-place finish at the Worthington Open
BEFORE SDSU: Owned a 137-31 career record at Johnston High School, where he was considered one of the top pound-for-pound wrestlers in Iowa …went 37-5 as a sophomore en route to a state title at 106 pounds … posted 43-3 record and runner-up finish in 113-pound weight class as a junior … qualified for state tournament in 132-pound weight class as a senior … also was a 2014 USA Wrestling Preseason Nationals champion and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament … four-time Greco and freestyle state champion, along with being a Fargo All-American
