Jason Hove joined the staff at South Dakota State University as the assistant sports information director in July 1998 and served in that position until being promoted to assistant athletic director for sports information in July 2006. He oversees the publicity efforts for the Jackrabbits' 19-sport varsity athletics program and currently serves as the primary contact for football, wrestling and baseball.
Now in his third decade in the sports information profession, Hove has provided assistance at numerous conference and NCAA postseason events, including the past 12 Summit League Basketball Championship events and the 2016 NCAA Women's Basketball Sioux Falls Regional. In 2024, Hove was awarded the 25-year award from the College Sports Communicators organization.Â
Hove is a 1996 graduate of South Dakota State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication, with a minor in history. He served as sports editor of The Collegian student newspaper for three semesters and as editor-in-chief during his senior year, while also serving as a student assistant in the sports information office. From May 1996 until returning to SDSU in July 1998, he worked at the Mitchell Daily Republic as a general assignment reporter and later as page editor.
Hove is a native of Bricelyn, Minnesota, and lives in Brookings with his wife, Laura, and their two kids.
