Logan McCormick took on the duties of defensive line for the South Dakota State football team in January 2025.
McCormick served the past two seasons as an assistant defensive line coach at Northwestern, where he worked under former Jackrabbit assistant coach Christian Smith. The Wildcats won the SRS Las Vegas Bowl to close out the 2023 season.
“Logan’s been a winner his entire life,” South Dakota State head coach Dan Jackson said in announcing the hire. “Besides bringing that mindset to our program he’ll be able to make a seamless transition to our program schematically.”
McCormick began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at James Madison during the 2022 campaign, helping the Dukes become bowl eligible in their first season of transition to the Football Bowl Subdivision.
A native of Appleton, Wisconsin, McCormick started 30 games during his career at North Dakota State, where he was a two-time team captain and played defensive end on Bison squads that won four Football Championship Subdivision national titles.
