Tori Kniesche joined the South Dakota State softball coaching staff as a graduate assistant following a decorated four-year career playing for the Jackrabbits. She enters the 2025-26 season in her second year as a part of the Jackrabbit staff.Â
Her opening season as a coach saw her guide one of the youngest pitching staffs in the nation. It led to postseason accolades for multiple members of her group by the end of 2025. Freshmen Tayler Baker and Sylvia Shromoff each claimed honors. Baker was an All-Summit League Second Team selection while Shromoff was an honorable mention. Baker was also tabbed to The Summit League All-Tournament team.Â
Prior to her start in coaching, Kniesche was a four-time All-Summit League performer in the circle for the Yellow and Blue. She was honored as The Summit League's Pitcher of the Year on two occasions, chosen to The Summit League's All-Tournament Team three times and was a four-time NFCA All-Midwest Region First Team honoree. During her career, Kniesche claimed 18 Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week accolades, was The Summit League's Female Peak Performer of the Month in April of 2023 and also claimed a Summit League Tournament MVP award as SDSU advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2022.Â
The former SDSU pitcher sits among the best in program history in several categories. Kniesche holds SDSU records in victories (80), shutouts (39), strikeouts (919), ERA (1.61) and opposing batting average (.151). She also recorded a program-record nine no-hitters, along with SDSU's only perfect game completed, during her time in Yellow and Blue.Â
