Charlie Miller joined the South Dakota State Sports Medicine staff as associate athletic trainer in 2018. Miller works with the Jackrabbits’ football team.

Miller spent four years at William Jewell College in Missouri as the Cardinals’ Director of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation/Instructor, working primarily with the football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball teams. Prior to that, he spent the 2013-14 season at William Jewell as the assistant athletic trainer/instructor, working with the men’s and women’s soccer, baseball, men’s and women’s basketball teams.

The Osceola, Nebraska, native was the head athletic trainer at Crete High School and assistant athletic trainer at Doane College in 2012-13. Prior to that, Miller spent eight years at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, five years as the head athletic trainer and three as an assistant. Miller worked with the majority of the sports teams at Midland and served as an instructor in their human performance program.
Miller received his master's degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he worked with football, wrestling, and baseball teams. In 2002, he earned his bachelor's degree from Doane College.Â

Miller lives in Brookings with his wife, Kristen, and they have two daughters.
