IOWA CITY, Iowa ? South Dakota State dropped a 3-0 game to rival North Dakota State in the first game of the day, and then fell 5-0 to Ball State to wrap up the day and the Tournament.
NDSU pounded out ten hits in Game 1, three of them in the third inning, when the Bison scored all three of their runs.
Meanwhile, NDSU starting pitcher Allison Bakke allowed just two Jackrabbit hits and SDSU did not advance a runner past first base.
SDSU doubled its hit total in the second game of the day against Ball State, but could not push a run across.
The Cardinals plated an unearned run in the fourth inning, and then two each in the fifth and seventh innings.
Jackrabbit starter Jenna Marston took the loss, she gave up two hits and one run, unearned, in 3.2 innings pitched. Marston also struck out two and walked three.
The Jacks fall to 10-18 with the loss.
South Dakota State returns to action on Wednesday, when the Jackrabbits christen the new Jackrabbit Softball Stadium in a double-header against St. Cloud State.
First pitch against the Huskies is scheduled for 3 p.m.
