KISSIMMEE, Fla. ? South Dakota State wrapped up the 2007 Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida with a 7-1 record, thanks to two more wins on Friday. The Jackrabbits, now 9-7 on the year, beat St. Peter's (N.J.) 4-2 in the morning, then capped the day with a 3-2 win over Pennsylvania.
Brooke Postma led off the first game of the day with a single, and eventually made it home on a Steph Kuhl sacrifice fly that put the Jacks up 1-0.
Jessica Vineyard opened the second inning by getting hit by a pitch, the then stole second, and scored to make 2-0 SDSU on a Brittany Postma single.
The Jacks got the two insurance runs, both unearned, in the fifth to salt away the 4-2 win.
SDSU fell behind 1-0 in its second game of the day against Pennsylvania, when the Quakers plated one run on three hits in the top of the fist inning.
Penn held on to its 1-0 lead until the third inning, when the Jacks capitalized on three Quaker errors for three runs.
Brooke Postma reached on the first miscue, stole second, then advance to third on a wild pitch. Postma scored when Denise Leon singled to the pitcher in the next at-bat. Leon advanced to second on the throw home, and to third on the second wild pitch of the inning.
The second error of the inning allowed Steph Kuhl to reach base with one out and allowed Leon to score from third to give the Jacks a 2-0 lead.
The third, and final, Jackrabbit run came thanks to the third Quaker mistake. Amanda Fedson reached on an error by the catcher, which allowed Kuhl to score the decisive run.
Penn pushed one more run across in the bottom of the seventh, but they stranded the tying run on first base.
Jenna Marston picked up the complete game win to improve to 4-1 on the season. Marston scattered nine hits, struck out five and walked none.
Above .500 for the first time this season, the Jacks return to action on March 16, at the Cascade Clash in Corvallis, Oregon with games against Oregon State at 12 p.m. PT (2 p.m. CT) and Portland State at 5 p.m. PT.
