After two scoreless innings, Chmielewski hit the first home run in Jackrabbit Softball Stadium, a three run shot over the left field fence to put the Bison up 3-0.
The Jacks started chipping away at the lead in the bottom of the fourth, when Steph Kuhl knocked in Denise Leon for her school best 125th RBI to make it 3-1 NDSU. Leon singled to open the inning, and got into position for Kuhl on a Samantha Heinzman bunt single.
Amanda Fedson opened the Jacks half of the fifth with a walk and advanced to second on a Brooke Postma sacrifice bunt.
Leon followed that up with her second hit of the day, an RBI single scored Fedson to get the Jacks within one at 3-2. Leon advanced to second on the throw home, then to third on another Heinzman bunt single, before eventually scoring the tying run on a wild pitch.
The Bison then capitalized on a pair of Jackrabbit errors in the sixth to take the lead back at 4-3, then salted the game away with two runs on three hits in the seventh.
Bakke, who came on in relief in the fourth inning, earned her second win of the day. She pitch 3 and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two.
