OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley State recorded three pins en route to a 39-4 victory over South Dakota State in the opening Western Wrestling Conference dual for both teams Thursday night.
SDSU dropped to 0-2 in duals, while the Wolverines improved to 4-2.
Derek Pirner picked up the lone victory for the Jackrabbits, recording a 10-2 major decision over Logan Wilson at 133 pounds. S
The Wolverines opened the dual with a pin at 184 pounds as Casen Eldredge pinned Tyler Sorenson, who was seeing his first action of the season, at the 4:35 mark. UVSC also received pins from Ben Kjar at 125 pounds and 149-pounder Sam Allen.
The Jackrabbits close out their western road trip with a dual Saturday night at Northern Colorado.
