FORY MYERS, Fla., - South Dakota State ran into a tough Florida Gulf Coast team again on Sunday in the Jackrabbits final game at the FGCU Spring Break Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla., falling to the host Eagles 11-0.
The loss drops the Jacks to 4-5 on the season, heading into the Tiger Invitational next weekend in Columbia, Mo., when the Jacks play two against the host Missouri Tigers and two against Boston University.
Trailing by one after one and a half innings, Postma hit a two-out triple in the bottom of the second, but the Jacks could not capitalize, and the score remained 1-0 FGCU after two complete.
That changed quickly in the top of the third, when the Eagles plated five runs to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
They added five more runs over the next two innings to secure the win and remain undefeated in the tournament.
FGCU finished its three-day tournament with a perfect 7-0 record, outscoring its opponents 48-4, including five shutouts.
The Jackrabbits return to action on Friday and Saturday for games against Missouri and Boston University.
The Jacks play the Tigers on both days and 1 p.m., and the Terriers on both days at 5:30 p.m.
