Missouri too much for Jackrabbits

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Nationally ranked Missouri scored in seven of the eight innings in which it batted en route to posting a 13-1 victory over South Dakota State Tuesday night at Taylor Stadium.
The Tigers, who are ranked as high as No. 4 in national polls, improved to 14-2 overall. SDSU dropped to 5-10 on the season.
Missouri scored a run in the bottom of the first against Jackrabbit starter Matt Baerlocher, then tacked on two more in the second before a solo home run by Jacob Priday in the third inning made the score 4-0. The Tigers chased Baerlocher from the game with two more runs in the fourth inning.
Zach Weber, making his second appearance of the season, kept Missouri off the board in his 1 2/3 innings of work. However, the Tigers added two more runs in the sixth inning and added four more in the seventh.
SDSU's lone run came in the eighth inning as Stephen Turner drove in Billy Stitz with a single up the middle. Nick Adams had three of SDSU's 11 hits, while Korby Mintken added a pair of singles.
For Missouri, Greg Folgia was productive both at the plate and one the mound. The sophomore scattered five hits and struck out seven in five shutout innings to earn the victory, and also went 3-for-5 with a run batted in and three runs scored. Dan Piertroburgo was 4-for-5 to lead the Tigers' 16-hit attach.
The two teams will meet again in the series finale at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The game will be broadcast live on the Jackrabbit Extra at GoJacks.com.
Notes: The start of the game was delayed a half hour because of rain ... SDSU first baseman Tyson Fisher collected his 200th career hit with a third-inning single .. Fisher was the second Jackrabbit in less than a week to reach the milestone, joining Adams, who accomplished the feat on March 15 ... Missouri pitchers recorded 13 strikeouts and did not walk a batter
