With the win,
SDSU scored first, tallying a run in the opening inning as Tyson Fisher hit an opposite-field double with two outs and came around to score on a base hit by Craig Parry.
The Golden Gophers came right back in the home half of the first, scoring twice against Jackrabbit starter Caleb Thielbar. Jeff DeSmidt brought home Matt Nohelty with the first run of the inning and Michael Kvasnicka plated the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.
The game then turned into a pitchers' duel between Thielbar and
Buske, meanwhile, struck out 10 batters and walked only one in 7 1/3 innings. He scattered five hits, while working out of a bases-loaded, one-out situation in the second inning and stranding two more SDSU runners in the seventh.
Closer Scott Matyas struck out the side in the top of the ninth for his second save.
The two teams will meet again at 2:05 p.m. Saturday at the Metrodome.
