Mintken and Tyson Fisher hit back-to-back home runs as part of a three-run first inning for the Jackrabbits, who improved to 13-16 overall. Mintken, who was 3-for-7 with six runs batted in, added a three-run home run in a seven-run third inning. Stitz also hit the first of his two home runs in the third inning, adding a three-run shot in the fifth.
Stitz ended the game 3-for-6 with five RBI, while Craig Parry accounted for the other Jackrabbit home run. Tony Martin added four hits, three of which were doubles, as part of SDSU's 17-8 advantage in hits.
Dakota Wesleyan, 15-16 overall, scored twice in the first inning against Jackrabbit starter Matt Baerlocher, then was held scoreless until the eighth inning. Baerlocher was credited with his third consecutive victory despite pitching only his scheduled two innings as the Jackrabbits worked on the mound by committee. A total of seven different pitchers threw at least one inning for SDSU.
