The South Dakota State wrestling team gave up the first nine matches of the night, including pins in the first two, as the North Dakota State Bison cruised to a 36-5 win at Frost Arena Friday night in a Western Wrestling Conference match up.
The Bison jumped out to an early 12-0 lead with pins over seniors
Jason Stripling and
Alan Marvin and scored five wins by decision and two win by major decision, extending the lead to 36-0.
The lone bright spot for the Jacks was junior
Tyler Sorenson. After a takedown by NDSU's Drew Ross in the first minute of action, Sorenson rattled off 16-straight points en route to an 18-3 win by technical fall. Sorenson recorded four nearfalls, three takedowns and two escapes in the victory and improves to a perfect 12-0 on the season.
The loss drops the Jacks to 9-10-1, 0-5 in the WWC while the Bison improve to 5-9-1, 2-3 WWC.
The Jacks return to Frost Arena Saturday for Senior Night and will host No. 21 Northern Iowa in Western Wrestling Conference action. It is the last regular season match of the Jacks this season and the final match at home for SDSU seniors
