TULSA, Okla. ? Oral Roberts scored in 11 of the 14 innings it batted and received a pair of complete-game victories from its starting pitchers, sweeping a doubleheader from South Dakota State by scores of 22-1 and 16-0 Saturday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

The Golden Eagles improved to 16-9 overall, 7-0 in The Summit League. SDSU fell to 5-21 overall, 1-6 in league play, and extended the Jackrabbits' losing streak to six games.

In the opener, ORU led 1-0 after three innings, but broke the game open with eight runs in the fourth, five in the fifth and five more in the sixth.

Juan Martinez led ORU's 19-hit attack by going 4-for-6 with two home runs, eight runs batted in and three runs scored. One of Martinez's home runs was a grand slam in the sixth inning. Colby Price also added four hits, while four other Golden Eagles had at least two hits.

The lone SDSU run of the day came on a solo home run by John Lee in the fifth inning.

Jerry Sullivan stuck out 16 Jackrabbit hitters en route to a complete-game victory for ORU. The right-hander scattered seven hits and walked one.

In Game 2, the ORU offense picked up where it left off, scoring five times in bottom of the first inning against SDSU starter Sam Pieczynski. Designated hitter Johnny Roberts delivered the big blow ? a three-run home run. Roberts was one of six different Golden Eagle players to record two hits as ORU out-hit the Jackrabbits, 14-2.

ORU put together another big inning in the fifth inning, scoring seven times to make the score 14-0.

Mark Serrano struck out eight and walked one in completing the seven-inning complete game. SDSU's two hits were singles by Stephen Turner in the second inning and Lee in the sixth.

The two teams will close out their four-game series Sunday afternoon with a single game starting at 1 p.m.
