EVANSTON, Ill. - South Dakota State wrestlers Dustin Walraven and Scott Elliott ended their run in the Midlands Championships, hosted by Northwestern, on day two of competition Thursday in Evanston, Ill.
Walraven, competing unattached in the 141-pound bracket, finished the tournament with a decision loss to Zac Hancock of Bucknell. Yesterday, Walraven found a 15-3 win before falling to no. five seed Chris Drouin of Iowa State 4-2.
Elliott, at 184 pounds, fell to Cameron Croy of Harvard to end his run in the Midlands Championships. Yesterday, Elliott defeated no. six seed Eric Schmditke of Oklahoma 4-3 before falling to Max Thomusseit of Pittsburgh.
Overall, the wrestlers ended the tournament in a tie for 41st place.
The Jacks return to Frost Arena Jan. 15 when the host Northern Iowa at 7 p.m.
