GREELEY, Colo. - South Dakota State freshman Devon Reick went 3-for-4 at the plate, but the Jackrabbits stranded seven runners in a 7-3 loss to Northern Colorado on Monday.
Both teams ended the day with the same 5-13 record.
The Jacks opened the scoring in the second when Tina Winter singled home Dani Broshar, who opened the inning with a single down the left field line.
Northern Colorado came back with a run in its half of the second, two runs in the third, three runs in the fourth and one more in the sixth inning to take a commanding 7-1 lead.
SDSU scored a pair of runs on a pair of hits and one UNC error in the seventh, but the rally fell short.
Kori Seidlitz got the start for the Jacks in the circle and pitched three innings in taking the loss. Seidlitz gave up six runs on seven hits with a pair of strikeouts and three walks.
The Jacks get Tuesday off and then to action on Wednesday in Salt Lake City with a single game against Utah before starting Summit League play on Friday in Cedar City, Utah against Southern Utah.
