Jacks hit the road to face Nevada, Montana

The start of the season left the South Dakota State women's soccer team with a bad taste in their mouth with 0-1-1 record but the team is set to take a roadtrip Saturday and Sunday to face Nevada and Montana in Reno, Nev.
The Jackrabbits dropped the home opener to Drake 1-0 Sunday at Fishback Soccer Park in Brookings, S.D.
“I thought we played hard in the game, but credit to Drake, they played very well defensively,” said head coach Lang Wedemeyer. “I thought we certainly carried the play for most of the game, but lacked a bit of composure and quality in the attacking third of the field. We have a great group of offensive players, but need to get them more in sync with one another to create better scoring opportunities.”
THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION
Nevada Wolf Pack – The Wolf Pack is 0-2-1 entering the weekend. Last week the Wolf Pack tied Gonzaga 1-1 and lost to Iowa State 2-1. The Jacks are set to face Iowa State Sept. 23 in Brookings, S.D.
Erin Smith and Aleina Dominguez scored the two lone goals for Nevada this season, while Cristen Drummond leads with six shots. Jill Erickson and Kori Disarunfino lead with two shots on-goal each.
In the net, Dana Moreno has allowed four goals on the season for a 2.00 goal-against average and notched ten saves for a .714 save percentage and a 0-2-1 record.
The Jacks are 0-1 against the Wolf Pack all-time.
Nevada will face Montana Friday before the match up against SDSU at 2 p.m. PT Saturday in Reno, Nev.
Montana Grizzlies – The Grizzlies are 0-3-1 heading into the weekend. Last week the Grizzlies dropped a couple of matches to Iowa State, 0-1, and Gonzaga, 2-3.
Kaitlyn Heinsohn leads the Grizzlies with two goals scored this season. She also leads with eight shots, including five on-goal.
In the net, Juliana Jack has allowed 12 goals this season for a 2.84 goal-against average and tallied 16 saves for a .571 save percentage and a 0-3-1 record.
The Jacks are 1-1 all-time against the Grizzlies.
Montana will play Nevada Friday before facing SDSU Sunday at noon PT in Reno, Nev.

LAST WEEK
Drake Bulldogs – The Jacks dropped the home opener against Drake 1-0 Aug. 29 at Fishback Soccer Park in Brookings, S.D.
The lone goal of the game came from Drake sophomore Laura Moklestad in the 13th minute of the game.
Jackrabbit
goalkeeper Dani Pappas blocked a shot by Drake freshman Megan Fisher
and left the net wide open for Moklestad to find the back of the net.
Pappas played all 90 minutes in the net and tallied four saves, but took her first loss of the year.
The
Jackrabbits outshot the Bulldogs 20-11 but tied in shots on-goal 5-5.
Senior Kaitlin Justice led the Jacks with six shots. Junior Steph Peterson tallied two shots for the Jacks, both on-goal.
The
Jacks now own a 0-1-1 record on the season heading into the weekend with
the pair of match ups against Nevada and Montana Saturday and Sunday.
NEXT UP – The Jacks are set to take another roadtrip next weekend as they travel to Wisconsin to face Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Green Bay Sept. 10 and Sept. 12.
The Jacks play Wisconisn at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 in Madison, Wis. then travel to Green Bay, Wis. to face Wisconsin-Green Bay at 1 p.m Sept. 12.
