The South Dakota State men's basketball team opened the exhibition season on Thursday with a 76-54 win over South Dakota Mines at Frost Arena in front of a crowd of 2,220 fans.
Thirteen of the 15 Jackrabbits to suit up in the game scored, with Deondre Parks leading the way with 15 points in 21 minutes. The only other Jackrabbit to reach double figures, Cody Larson finished with 10 points in 15 minutes on the floor.
On the other side of the box score, 12 Hardrockers scored, but none reach double figures, with Konor Kulas leading the way with eight points. No Hardrocker finished with more than three rebounds.
Freshman Ian Theisen, finished with three points in the win, but added a game-high eight rebounds and a block for the Jacks, who finished with 44 rebounds, 20 more than the visitors, inclduding a 15-6 edge on the offensive glass.
Connor Devine finished with seven rebounds to go with his four points and two blocks. Logan Doyle added five points and six rebounds, with Anders Broman pitching in with nine points on a 2 for 2 night from 3-point range.
As a team, the Jacks shot 45 percent for the game, 22 of 49, and held the Hardrockers to 37.5 percent, 18 of 48.
SDSU closes the exhibition schedule at home on Tuesday against Dakota Wesleyan at 7 p.m., and then opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 14 at Buffalo.
