Larson Leads the Jackrabbits

BROOKINGS, S.D.—Junior Wagner Larson led the South Dakota State volleyball team but the Jackrabbits lost 3-1 to Oral Roberts Friday in a Summit League match in Frost Arena.
With the 22-25, 25-22, 25-18 and 25-17 loss, the Jacks fall to 6-26 overall and 0-15 in league play. The Golden Eagles improve to 14-14 and 8-7.
Larson (Sioux Falls) had a team-best 10 kills and hit .421. The middle hitter also had a career-high nine block assists. SDSU collected 26 block assists in the match with junior Carley Gerving (Rapid City) recorded a personal-best six block assists while sophomores Kacey Herrmann (Rapid City) and Tiara Gibson (Clear Lake) had four each.
Defensively, Herrmann had a team-high 15 digs followed by junior Lizzie Palmer (Sioux Falls) with 14 digs and classmate Alanna Pengilly (Watertown) with 13 digs.
Laura Milos led Oral Roberts with 21 kills and 15 digs. Sara Pope also had a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs and Nika Mostahinic 11 kills and 11 digs. Maggie DiPronio had a match-high 17 digs.
South Dakota State closes the season Saturday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Western Illinois.
