BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State volleyball team was dominant in a 25-18, 25-18, 25-22 sweep over Boise State Friday night at First Bank & Trust Arena.
The Jackrabbits improve to 6-2 on the year while Boise State moves to 7-3 overall.
SDSU hit .238 for the match and held Boise State to just .051, the lowest mark by a Jackrabbit opponent this season. The Jacks had five players register at least three blocks, paced by eight rejections from
Madison Burr (five assists, three solo).
Sydni Schetnan added six blocks, followed by
Rylee Martin with four and
Sylvie Zgonc and
Annalee Ventling-Brown with three apiece.
In total, SDSU out-blocked the Broncos 14-8. The Jacks' 14 blocks is a season high. SDSU also had the advantage in kills, 43-30.
Six players posted at least five kills in the match. Zgonc led all players with 16 kills, bringing her career total to 990 early in her junior season. She also had four digs. Burr and
Hannah Klein added six kills each, then Martin, Schetnan and Ventling-Brown each tallied five kills.
Rachel Wieber led the Jackrabbit back row with nine digs.
Maggie Meister and
Joslyn Richardson tacked on seven kills each.
Eliza Sharp led Boise State with seven kills.
NOTES
- Madison Burr's eight total blocks is two shy of her own program record for blocks in a three-set match.
- Sydni Schetnan moved into 10th place all-time for career kills at SDSU. She has 266 blocks in her time at South Dakota State.
- Rylee Martin has at least five kills three times this season.
