The South Dakota State men's basketball team got a balanced effort in their final exhibition contest of the season, as all 14 players in uniform played, 13 scored, five of them in double figures, as the Jackrabbits rolled to a 94-67 win over Dakota Wesleyan at Frost Arena.
The Jacks won both of their exhibition games, which includes a 72-43 win over South Dakota Mines last week, in convincing fashion, and now look to the regular season, which begins on Friday, Nov. 13, at home against Chadron State.
Jake Bittle scored the first five points of the game, and even though the Tigers came right back to tie the game at 5-all, George Marshall scored on the next trip down the floor and the Jacks never trailed again.
SDSU built a lead to a first half high of 36-21, only to see DWU cut it to seven at 44-37 at halftime.
The Jacks quickly rebuilt that lead to 16 in the second half and then pushed it to as many as 30 points in the final minute of the game.
Four of the five Jackrabbit starters scored in double figures, led by Marshall and Ian Theisen with 14 points. Bittle finished with 13 and Deondre Parks 10 in the win.
Mike Daum tied for team-high honors with 14 points off the bench.
Trae Bergh led all players and four Tigers in double figures with 18 points. Jade Miller added 12 points, Jon Harmening 11 and Brady Wohler 10 points in the loss.
SDSU looks to keep it rolling in the season opener next Friday in the third contest of a Frost Arena tripleheader, which starts with the Jackrabbit volleyball team taking on North Dakota State at 2 p.m., followed by the women's basketball team hosting Marist in their season-opener and the men at 8:30 p.m. against Chadron State.
