South Dakota State finally returns home from its season-long five game, 11-day road trip, to host the Wayne State Wildcats before returning to the road for a short one game trip next week.
The season-long trip saw the Jackrabbits win all four games in Cancun Challenge before falling at Kansas City on the way home. The Jacks came home with a 6-1 overall record after starting 6-0, which tied the team's best-ever start at the Division I level, equaling the 2010-11 start, which included a win at Iowa.
The 6-0 start this season includes wins at Illinois State and at TCU in the two stateside contests of the Cancun Challenge, as well as the two wins at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Mexico over Houston Baptist and Cleveland State.
Connor Devine played at both Illinois State and at TCU, but did not play in Cancun, as he returned home to witness the birth of his first child, a son, who joined the Jackrabbits family on Monday, Nov. 23.
THE OPPONENT
WAYNE STATE WILDCATS (1-4, 0-2 Away): Still in rebuilding mode under third-year head coach Brian Dolan, the Wildcats sandwiched their lone win around two losses on each side.
WSC opened the season with losses to Missouri Western State and Northwest Missouri State, both in St. Joseph, Mo. The Wildcats followed that up with a home win over Iowa Wesleyan, then losses at home to Augustana and at William Jewell in their last outing on Saturday.
Scheduled to host Nebraska-Kearney on Monday night, weather forced the teams to postpone that game to a later date.
THE SERIES vs. WAYNE STATE
SDSU leads the all-time series 14-1, which includes an 85-55 win last season on Dec. 3, 2014. The Wildcats lone win in the series came on Dec. 28, 2004, an 82-56 win at the SDSU Burger King Classic at Frost Arena.
