South Dakota State looks to avoid its first losing streak of the season and complete the season sweep against South Dakota on Saturday, when the teams meet inside Frost Arena at 4:30 p.m. in the South Dakota Corn Showdown Series.
The Jackrabbits enter the game after a tough 96-92 loss at Omaha on Wednesday night that dropped them into a tie for first place in The Summit League standings with an 8-3 record, tied with Fort Wayne. The Jacks control their own destiny though, as they travel to Fort Wayne next week to take on the Mastodons.
SDSU, which won the first meeting with the Coyotes, 79-75, on Jan. 23, look to sweep the season series for the first time since 2013-14, and claim a point in the Showdown Series standings, which the Jackrabbits currently lead 6-3.
In that first meeting of the season, Mike Daum tallied game-highs with 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Jake Bittle added 21 points and 7 rebounds, as the Jackrabbits came back from an 11 point deficit to give head coach Scott Nagy his 400th career win in his final game in the DakotaDome.
THE OPPONENT
SOUTH DAKOTA COYOTES (12-14, 4-8 Summit, 4-8 Away): The Coyotes, who beat North Dakota State 72-58 on Thursday, snapped a season-long four game losing streak last Saturday night with a 91-79 home win over Oral Roberts and enter today's game on a two-game winning streak.
Both the Coyotes and ORU entered play this week with 3-8 records in Summit League play, two games clear of Western Illinois. All three teams won on Thursday, keeping the Fighting Leathernecks two games back in the league standings entering play Saturday. Â Â Â Â Â
