KISSIMMEE, Fla. – South Dakota State starting pitcher Bryana Clark pitched her way out of three bases loaded jams and stranded 11 Bluejays runners on base, and then got a walk off hit from Abbey Murphy to secure a 1-0 Jackrabbits win on Tuesday morning at the Rebel Spring Games.
The Jacks third straight win boosts their record to 6-14, while the Bluejays fall to 10-9.
Creighton stranded three runners in the second, fifth and sixth innings, and then stranded two more in the seventh of a scoreless game.
The Jackrabbits came to bat in the bottom of the seventh with only one hit on the day and a total of two base runners, but freshman Yanney Ponce opened the frame with a walk, which brought up Lauren Chirnside, who reached on a bunt single to set the stage for Abbey Murphy, who delivered a shot the gap that scored Ponce to end the game.
Clark, who improves to 3-6 in the circle, gave up for hits and four walks with five strikeouts, but stepped up big when she needed it, and got plenty of help from her defense to secure the win.
The Jacks look to make it four straight wins, and give head coach Krista Wood her 300th career win, against Hampton at 12:30 p.m.
