CEDAR FALLS, Iowa—The South Dakota State track and field program claimed six event wins Saturday at the Mark Messersmith Invite in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

The Jackrabbit men finished with a team score of 84 to finish in third, while the Jackrabbit women finished with a score of 52 for fifth place at the meet.

Carly Carper continued her winning ways in the 60-meter dash by winning the race and tying a season-best time of 7.57. It is the third time in as many competitions that Carper has come away with the win. Carper also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.63, while
Kayla McDonald finished sixth (25.66).

In the men's 60-meter dash,
Sam Zenner claimed first place after running a 6.89 in the finals. It was Zenner's first career collegiate win.

The Jacks had success in the high jump yet again, with
Zach Koosman winning the event on the men's side with a jump of 6-09.50 and
Riley Sears finishing tied for third (6-05.00).
Monique Mack finished tied for second in the women's high jump clearing 5-03.25.

In the men's 800-meter run,
Alejandro Sanchez claimed first with a time of 1:55.02. Sanchez has won each event that he has competed in so far this season, with Friday being his first in the 800-meter run.
Josh Prohaska was close behind finishing in 1:55.74 for fourth place.

Marc Husman,
Dru Kenny and
Adam Belhaj combined to win the men's 4x400-meter relay for the second consecutive week posting a time of 3:20.87.

Reagan Francom claimed the top spot in the pole vault by clearing 15-08.25.

Bryant Courter finished second in the long jump with a jump of 23-06.00. JJ Hejna finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 21-11.50.

In the 3,000-meter run,
Chase Cayo finished third after posting a personal-best time of 8:39.88.

Silvia Zanini finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 58-04.50.

Next Up
South Dakota State will have a split squad the weekend of Feb. 3. Part of the team will travel to Lincoln, Neb., to compete in the Husker Invite Feb. 3-4, while part of the team will head to Vermillion, S.D., Feb. 4 to compete in the Dakota Realty/Alumni Invitational.
