Emily Donnay broke the women's mile record as the South Dakota State track and field team returned to action on Feb. 4.

The distance unit competed in Lincoln, Neb., at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, while the rest of the team competed at the Dakota Realty Alumni Invitational in Vermillion, S.D.

In Lincoln, Donnay finished the mile in a school-record time of 4:50.45. The previous record of 4:51.57 was held by Becka Mansheim and was set in 2006.
Rachel King finished the mile in 4:52.39, which ranks third on the all-time top-10 list.

In the men's mile,
Kyle Burdick finished second in a personal-best 4:08.12, which is also good for sixth on the all-time top-10 list.
Brendan Sage also ran the mile, finishing with a time of 4:15.55.

Joel Reichow moved into third on the all-time top-10 list in the 3,000-meter run after finishing in 8:13.93. On the womens side,
Emily Berzonsky finished the 3,000-meter run in 10:01.02

In Vermillion,
Lexi Weisbeck won the 600-meter run finishing in 1:39.09.

Jaymie Oconnor took second in 60-meter hurdles posting a time of 8.84

In both the men's and women's 4x400-meter relay, the Jacks took second.

Zach Schroeder and
Ned Sudbeck combined to finish in 3:25.23.
Cailyn Schreurs,
Sandra Gramer, Peyton VadeBrake and
Allison Sebern finished in 4:02.20.

Kasie Volmer finished second in the shot put after throwing a personal best mark of 45-05.75.

In the men's triple jump, SDSU took the top three spots, with
Josh Dotson leading the way with a jump of 46-02.75.
Jake Lieberg (46-02.50) finished second and
Ephram Albrecht (45-03.50) took third.
