INDIANAPOLIS – Senior
Geoffrey Longhurst beat his own record on the final day of The Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium.
Longhurst captured fifth in the 100 IM with a school-record breaking time of 52.15. Four other Jackrabbits competed in the event with
Wyatt Rumrill taking 10th (53.09),
Christopher Rumrill in 11th (53.83),
Michael Carlson in 13th (54.33) and
Josh DeDina in 14th (55.16).
SDSU placed in the top-10 in the 1,650 freestyle with senior
Chris Angerhofer placing fifth with a time of 15:58.40 and Weston Christiansen finished eighth in 16:24.73. Freshman
Christian Offenhauser came in ninth (16:26.91).
Chase Petersen with a sixth-place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:52.04) and
Matthew Carpenter finished one behind in seventh place with a time of 1:52.27.
In the 100 freestyle, senior
Tony Mikrut finished ninth with a career-best time of 45.39.
Ben Sieve and
Maclaine Johnson placed 11th and 12th, respectively.
Ben Johnson closed out the event with a 14th place finish (46.85).
Sophomore
Wyatt Rumrill was the lone Jackrabbit competing in the 200 breaststroke, taking fifth place with a time of 2:01.93.
Donovan Taylor closed his collegiate career with a sixth-place finish in the 200 butterfly in 1:53.36 and
Spencer Sathre claimed 11th (1:55.85).
In the 3-meter dive, the Jacks finished in the top eight.
Parker Brown placed third with a career-best score of 318.80. Joey Weber and
Noah Batenhorst claimed fifth and sixth, respectively.
Alex Crow rounded out the event with an eight-place finish (257.60).
The 400 freestyle relay team of Sieve,
Ben Johnson,
Maclaine Johnson and Mikrut completed the final day of competition with a fifth-place time of 3:04.28.
SDSU finished third overall behind Denver and IUPUI.
