The South Dakota State equestrian team closed its regular-season in a tough loss to No. 8 SMU in a tiebreak on Senior Day.

At the end of competition, SDSU and SMU were tied 8-8, but after a tiebreaker, the Mustangs took the win, 1576.75-1567.25.
"Even though the tie did not end up in our favor, I was so proud of all of our rides throughout the day," head coach Ellie Wilkins said. "The momentum followed us home from our trip to Las Cruces and helped us come together as a team to end our regular season on what I would consider a higher note."Â
The Jackrabbits won Equitation over Fences, 3-0. Junior
Alissa Greenwald garnered MOP accolades with an 87-70 victory over Vivian Yowan.
Jacey Chorlton dropped Alexis Graves, 76-75. Senior Blair Wright upended Haley Zimmerman, 84-81.

Jessica Martinez captured her fifth win on the season with an 85-84 mark over Nora Gray.
Taylor Duerr improved to 6-4 in the discipline, topping Haley Zimmerman, 82-77.

Nicole Siebold won the lone point in Horsemanship, en route to earning MOP honors.
Nichole Zazula tied her point.

In Reining,
Alicia Johnson defeated Casey Bibbs, 72-71.
Miranda Sullivan claimed the last point for the Jacks with a 69-67.5 win over Madison Steed.
SDSU closes the season going 3-8 overall and 1-2 in the UEC. The team will wait for the results of the conference tournament to determine if they qualify for nationals.
