BURLESON, Texas – The Jackrabbits wrapped up their season opening road swing through the Lone Star State on Friday, falling 16-2 to seventh-ranked TCU in head-to-head competition at KSM Bear Creek Farms.

The Jackrabbits had a tough start to the morning despite their best efforts, dropping five points to the Horned Frogs in fences. Brooke Borges got things started with an 84 but fell short against in her head-to-head matchup with TCU's Maggie Dumrauf scoring an 87. Isabelle Malick, Lucy Puhalla, Hedi White, and Sarah Gould followed with respective scores in the 70s.

Entering flat, Sierra Elliott won a point against the Horned Frogs' Hanna Dolan in a 79-77 victory. Isabelle Malick also turned in a score of 79 but fell short to a score of 83. SDSU's Sydney Chmel, Kayla Scherer, and Heidi White also put up a fight in flat, but could not pull out the team point.

On the western side, Hannah Dutton put out a score of 74.5 to win a point for the Jackrabbits against Marcella Bee (70). Avery Bergan competed and claimed a tie with Peyton Staat behind a score of 73.

Hailey Hanson, Anna Minich, and Addison Saterbak made up the rest of the horsemanship lineup, and all put out mid-70s scores. The Jackrabbits narrowly fell in horsemanship with a tight overall score difference of 373-372.

SDSU's reining squad had some tough luck today against the Horned Frogs and could not pick up a point. Lillie Wallis posted the Jackrabbits' top score in the event with a 74.5 but was edged by Adele Cunningham of TCU with a score of 75. Hanson was also a part of the reining team and got a score of 72 to tie with TCU's Cassie Hacking. Emma Riggs (60.5), Claire Lutter (70), and Maryn Mead (71) made up the rest of the reining lineup on Friday.

UP NEXT
The Jackrabbits prepare to host a competition against Minnesota Crookston. Action is set for Saturday, Oct. 10, at DeHaan Equestrian Center in Brookings.
