T&F hits the road for Iowa

The South Dakota State men's and women's track and field teams are set to travel to Iowa for meets this weekend.

Some athletes will be competing Apr. 27-29 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, while other athletes will be competing at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa, Apr. 28.

Drake Relays
Some SDSU student-athletes will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete at the 108^th annual Drake Relays Apr. 27-29.

The distance carnival will take place on Thursday evening beginning at 6 p.m. On Friday, running events begin at 9:32 a.m. with the women's 100-meter hurdles prelims. Field events will get underway at 10 a.m. with the women's long jump. Saturday action will begin at 9 a.m. with the women's hammer throw and men's discus throw, while running events are set to kick off at 9:35 a.m. with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The meet will also feature a handful of athletes who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

Kip Janvrin Open
Jackrabbits' will also be competing at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa, at Buxton Stadium Apr. 28.

Field and running events are set to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Running events will get started with the women's 100-meter hurdles followed by the men's 110-meter hurdles. The women's pole vault will kick off field events.
