Ashlynn Smith led South Dakota State in a 3-0 loss to George Washington Friday afternoon in the UND Classic in the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.

The Jackrabbits (1-7) lost 25-20 25-21 and 25-16 to the Colonials (2-6).

Peterson hit .533 with nine kills, an error on 15 attack attempts. Smith had nine kills. Freshman
Hanna Jellema led State with a career-high 10 digs.

In a match with long runs, the Jackrabbits couldn't stop a 10-3 run in the first set, a 12-3 run in the second and a 13-4 run in the third.

George Washington opened the third set with a 5-1 run and built a 10-7 lead before its 13-4 run to win the set and match.
