The South Dakota State women's swimming and diving team defeated Omaha, 130-113, Friday evening at the Stanley J. Marshall Center Pool.

The Jacks won nine of 13 events to take the victory.

"It was a very good start to our weekend competitions," head coach Doug Humphrey said. "They swam inspired and wanted this victory. They had fun and swam with confidence. Now our eyes quickly shift towards better swims tomorrow. Today was a big step towards where we will be at the end of the season."

Diving Dominates

Emily Moore won the 3-meter with a career-best 290.93.
Senior Courtney Trapp made her debut on the 1-meter with a score of 168.90.
Quincee Simonson made personal-best times in the 1- and 3-meter with scores of 245.62 and 238.21, respectively.

Jacks Win Points

The team of Katya Vakshteyn, Kristin Erf, Kristen Davis and Ashley Theobald won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.26 to claim 11 points for South Dakota State.
Freshman Rori Conners won the 1000 free (10:36.99) and the 500 free (5:13.61) to capture 18 points for SDSU. Daniel Santillan came in third in both events to also claim points for State.
Richelle Bruyckere claimed first in the 200 free and the 100 free with times of 1:55.32 and 53.50, respectively.
Senior Kristin Erf captured victories in the 100 IM (59.22) and the 200 breast (2:22.92) to also win 18 points for the Jacks.
Katya Vakshteyn touched first in the 200 back with a time of 2:09.11.
Emily Pincus, Gabrielle Langerud, Jade Goosen, Ashley Theobald, Liezl Ocon, Cassie Hendricks and Mikayla Beckman also won points for SDSU.
