Previewing the Game
South Dakota State hits the road this week for a pair of games, beginning Thursday at Denver. Tipoff against the Pioneers inside Magness Arena is set for 8 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. MT.
The Jackrabbits (20-6, 8-1 Summit League) are coming off a sweep of its three-game homestand last week, knocking off North Dakota State (82-63) its last time out. The Jacks currently sit first in Summit League action one game into the final month of the regular season and are a half-game ahead of South Dakota. Five games remain for SDSU before the 2018 Summit League Tournament, with only two road games left after Thursday.
Denver (10-13, 4-5 Summit League) is coming off a 91-63 loss at Fort Wayne last Saturday, but prior to that had won three straight against Oral Roberts, Western Illinois and USD. The Pioneers are tied for fourth in the league standings aside NDSU and have five games remaining on the docket (including Thursday).
This is the 20th meeting between the Jacks and Pioneers, with SDSU holding a 13-6 edge. South Dakota State took down Denver earlier this season in Brookings, 94-72, in a game where Mike Daum went for 34 points and David Jenkins Jr. added 27.
About South Dakota State
The Jackrabbits are 13-0 at home this season and have won 18 straight inside Frost Arena, currently the nation's fifth-longest active home winning streak.
The Summit League Preseason Player of the Year Mike Daum is the nation's top returning scorer and has picked up where he left off in 2016-17, averaging a near-double-double of 23.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest. He has 14 double-doubles on the campaign (with five straight entering Thursday) and has reached double figures in all but one game, including nine 30-point performances.
Daum has been named the Summit League's Player of the Week six times, and was named the Summit League's Athlete of the Month for November and December.
He joined the 2,000-point club last week, and is seventh nationally in scoring average.
In league play, the Kimball, Nebraska native is averaging a double-double of 27.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 92.1 percent at the charity stripe.
David Jenkins Jr. has made his presence known in his first season at the collegiate level, sitting second on the team with 15.1 points per game and 20 double figure scoring performances. He has led the team in scoring three times and is shooting 41.8 percent from the field. Jenkins has reached the 20-point mark in eight games, including a 31-point performance at Colorado where he drilled seven 3-pointers.
The Tacoma, Washington native is second among Jackrabbits with 63 total 3-pointers this season (behind Mike Daum's 65), firing at a clip of 38.4 percent.
Reed Tellinghuisen is third on the team in scoring with season averages of 12.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Both rank third on the team while the senior is shooting 50 percent from the field.
The Sac City, Iowa native is 49-for-119 (41.2 percent) from beyond the arc, and has scored 20 or more in two Summit League games, finishing with 22 at NDSU and 24 against ORU.
Tevin King is putting up 9.9 points per game, just below double figures while grabbing 134 total rebounds (5.2 per contest), second-most on the squad. He has 68 assists and a team-best 48 steals while shooting 54.3 percent from the field. From Chicago, King has scored 10 or more in 15 games this season, and has done it in seven of nine league contests.
The NCAA's Feb. 5 stats release has the Jackrabbits 10th in scoring offense at 85.5 points per game with a plus-11.0 scoring margin. SDSU is shooting 47.7 percent as a team and 41.1 percent from deep, good enough for 14th nationally.
Through nine Summit League games, State is scoring 85.1 points per game and is plus-10.5 in scoring margin. The Jackrabbits are also 152-for-185 as a team (82.2 percent) from the free throw line in league play.
About Denver
Denver is led by three double figure scorers, with Joe Rosga (15.4 points per game) leading the way. Rosga is shooting 48.5 percent from the field and is nearly automatic from the charity stripe at 91.3 percent for the season. Rosga is third on the team in rebounds (4.2 per contest) and paces the team in assists (66).
Daniel Amigo (14.7 ppg) is close behind for the team lead in scoring and is firing at a clip of 54.1 percent from the field. Amigo leads the team with 155 total rebounds (6.7 per game) and has tallied 13 blocks on the year with 40 assists.
Jake Pemberton rounds out the top scorers at 11.5 points per game and is second on the team with 44 3-pointers (behind Rosga's 51 from deep). Pemberton is shooting 48.2 percent from the field overall, and is second among the Pioneers with 57 assists. His 29 steals leads the group.
Jake Krafka is DU's second-leading rebounder at 5.3 points per game.
The Pioneers are averaging 71.8 points per game as a team and shooting 47.9 percent combined. Defensively, Denver is allowing 73.3 points on average while holding opponents to a 43.4 field goal percentage.
DU is plus-5.9 in rebounding margin but has been tagged with a minus-4.7 turnover margin.
Rodney Billups is in his second season leading Denver and holds a 26-27 record.

Daum Reaches 2,000 Points
Mike Daum became just the second Jackrabbit to score over 2,000 points in his career when he reached the mark Feb. 1 against North Dakota State. Daum is the 15th Summit League player to achieve 2,000 points, and ranks among the fastest to do it in the last 20 years.
Additionally, Daum stacks up well against previous Oscar Robertson Trophy and John R. Wooden Award winners over the last 25 years, reaching the 2,000 point mark faster than any previous winner. Daum is currently on the midseason Robertson Trophy Watch List, and was a member of the Wooden Award's preseason list. He can play his way onto the list as the season continues.
Daum On Midseason Watch Lists
Mike Daum has earned a spot on  national award midseason watch lists for the 2017-18 season, being named a favorite for the Oscar Robertson Player of the Year and Lou Henson Mid-major Player of the Year awards.
- The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has announced its midseason watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, with Mike Daum listed among 14 NCAA Division I standouts. Daum was also on the preseason list. The award is presented to the national player of the year by its namesake at the NCAA Final Four in San Antonio. Balloting for the USBWA's All-America Team, All-District Teams and the association's individual awards will take place in March. The Oscar Robertson Trophy will be presented at a news conference on Friday, March 30, at the Final Four in San Antonio.
- South Dakota State's Mike Daum was one of 40 players listed on the 2017-18 Lou Henson Award midseason Watch List, announced Jan. 11. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I mid-major player. The 2017-18 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award will be announced on March 31, 2018 at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Event in San Antonio, site of the men's NCAA Basketball Championship.
Jenkins Honored by Summit League
South Dakota State's David Jenkins Jr. has been named the Summit League's Player of the Week, announced Jan. 22.
Jenkins led all scorers with 27 points in SDSU's 98-70 win at Western Illinois, shooting 69.2 percent (9-for-13) from the field with four 3-pointers and a 5-for-5 effort at the charity stripe. He added six boards and an assist over 30 minutes.
It was the seventh 20-point game of the season for the Tacoma, Washington native, who is sixth nationally in total points among all NCAA Division I freshman.
Daum Named December Athlete of the Month
Mike Daum was named the Summit League's December Male Athlete of the Month, announced Jan. 9.
Daum, who was also the November honoree, averaged 23.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in that span, shooting 51.5 percent from the field. Beyond the arc, he hit 22-of-45 attempts and at the charity stripe buried 29 of his 37 free throws.
The junior was a two-time Player of the Week selection in the month and reached double figures in seven of eight starts. He had three double-doubles in the month and five games with 20 or more points, including a trio of 30-point efforts. The Kimball, Nebraska native shot over 50 percent in the final six games, including a 5-for-7 (71.4 percent) game at UMKC.
He is the first men's basketball player to receive the award in consecutive months since Wolters in 2013.
Flatten Granted Sixth Year by NCAA
South Dakota State's Skyler Flatten was granted a sixth-year of eligibility Friday from the NCAA. Flatten, who entered the 2017-18 season as a senior, is now eligible to return to the Jackrabbit basketball program for the 2018-19 season.
Flatten, who missed all of 2015-16 due to injury, has appeared in 84 games for the Jackrabbits, averaging 5.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game for his career.
This season, the Clark, South Dakota native is posting a career-high 7.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, starting 22 of 26 contests. He is shooting 49.6 percent from the field and leads The Summit League with a 53.7 3-point field goal percentage, hitting 44-of-82. The fifth-year junior is also shooting 92.3 percent at the charity stripe.
Daum Racks Up Weekly Honors
Mike Daum earned his fourth Summit League Player of the Week nod of the season Jan. 8. Daum is an eight-time Summit League Player of the Week for his career, the fourth-most all-time in league history.
- Feb. 5 -- Averaged a double-double of 33 points and 15.5 rebounds over two wins. Shot over 47 percent from the field and went 11-for-13 at the line. Posted a monster 35-point, 18-rebound double-double against Omaha Tuesday while resetting his career-high in field goals (15). Followed with 31 points and 13 rebounds against North Dakota State as he scored his 2,000th career point in the win.
- Jan. 16 -- Averaged a double-double over two wins with 30.5 points and 10 rebounds per contest. The junior shot 55.9 percent from the field, hit 8-of-13 from deep and buried 15 of his 16 free throw attempts. Scored 27 with 12 rebounds against Oral Roberts and had 34 points with eight boards against Denver.
- Jan. 8 -- Averaged a double-double of 32 points and 13 rebounds over two wins last week, shooting 51.3 percent from the field while going 22-for-22 at the charity stripe. He started the week with a 37-point, 15-rebound performance at North Dakota State, hitting 10 field goals while going a perfect 16-for-16 on free throws. He followed with his 19th career double-double on Saturday, dropping 27 points with 11 rebounds at Omaha while pushing his consecutive free throw streak to 22.
- Dec. 26 -- Averaged a double-double over two starts, putting up 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game alongside a 61.3 field goal percentage. Started the week with a 35-point, 14-rebound double-double against Drake on Dec. 19. He matched his career-high of 14 field goals and hit four 3-pointers in the game. Daum added 12 points and seven rebounds at UMKC (Dec. 22), going 5-for-7 from the field.
- Dec. 18 -- Averaged a double-double over two starts, with 31 points and 11 rebounds per contests. Scored 37 points with 12 rebounds at Colorado (Dec. 15) and had 25 points with 10 boards against North Dakota (Dec. 12).
- Nov. 20 -- Posted double-doubles in both games, averaging 25.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per contest. He shot 50 percent from the field (16 of 32) and hit eight 3-pointers while going 11-for-13 at the charity stripe. Notched his 13th career 30-point game against Alabama State (11/14) to go along with 13 rebounds while adding 21 points and 11 rebounds against Kansas (11/17).
Tough Tests
South Dakota State played five Power Five (ACC, SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Pac-12) opponents this season and has two wins those games.
The Jackrabbits knocked off Ole Miss (Nov. 28) in overtime after a win over Iowa (Nov. 21) at the Cayman Islands Classic.
SDSU also faced Kansas (Nov. 17) and Colorado (Dec. 15) in addition to a road matchup at then-No. 6 Wichita State (a member of the American Athletic Conference), with narrow losses against the Shockers and Buffaloes. At WSU, the Jacks led for over 28 minutes of game action, but a late charge helped the Shockers defend their home court. SDSU charged back from an early deficit in Colorado to force overtime, but could not pull off the comeback in a double overtime affair that saw SDSU play just eight Jackrabbits in 50 minutes of game action.
South Dakota State has seven wins over Power Five programs since joining The Summit League in 2007, picking up wins over Iowa State (2008), Iowa (2010 and 2017), Washington (2011), TCU (2015), Minnesota (2015) and Ole Miss (2017).
SDSU's wins over Iowa and Ole Miss this season came in the shortest time frame of any Summit League team since 1998 (seven days). The Jackrabbits are the fifth league team to post a win over separate Power Five conferences in the same regular season, and the first to do it since 2009.
Let It Rain
South Dakota State's 3-point offense ranks among the nation's best for the second-straight season, as the team is third the nation in 3-pointers made and fourth in attempts for the Feb. 5 stats release. The Jacks are 13th nationally with 10.7 3-pointers per game and 14th with a 41.1 long range shooting percentage.
- Last season, the Jacks had three players that hit 60 or more 3-pointers last season, including two returners in Mike Daum (79) and Reed Tellinghuisen (74). That duo ranked 13th nationally among active returning duos in combined 3-pointers from a year ago. State has four already with 40 or more 3-pointers this year: Mike Daum (65), David Jenkins Jr. (63), Reed Tellinghuisen (49) and Skyler Flatten (44).
- Through 26 games last season, SDSU was 242-for-677 beyond the arc. This year, the Jacks are 278-for-677 from long distance.
- Nov. 28 saw the Jackrabbits reset the school's Division I record for 3-pointers made and attempted in a game for the third (makes) and fourth (attempts) time, going 18-for-41 beyond the arc.
- Since the arrival of T.J. Otzelberger, the Jacks now hold all of the top five spots in the record book for 3-pointers made in a Division I game, and hold all but one of the spots in the top five of attempts.
- The Otzelberger-led Jackrabbits have hit 14 or more 3-pointers in 11 games over the last two seasons, and prior to his arrival a State team had hit 14 or more 3-pointers in just six games.
- Through the first 12 seasons of Division I basketball (starting in the first transition year of 2003-04), SDSU had 71 games of 10 or more 3-pointers, with a max of 13 in one season (2010-13). The Jackrabbits did it 13 times last year and this season has already hit 10 or more 3-pointers in 15 games.
- Under T.J., the Jackrabbits have attempted 30 or more 3-pointers in a game 12 times. The Pre-Otzelberger era Jackrabbit teams did it on 11 total occasions since the adoption of the 3-point line in 1986. It happened three times at the Division I level and eight times between 2003-04 and 2015-16, the last season Scott Nagy led the program.
- SDSU is one of six Division I teams to have seven or more players with 10-plus 3-pointers on the year, joining TCU, Creighton, Holy Cross, UTSA and Louisville
- Jenkins Jr. Named National Freshman of the Week
- CBS Sports and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association have named South Dakota State's David Jenkins Jr. as the National Freshman of the Week, announced Dec. 19 on CBSSports.com.
- Jenkins averaged 23 points, four 3-pointers, four rebounds and 1.5 steals per game last week, shooting 47.2 percent from the field with an 8-for-17 effort from long range.
- He made the most of his first career start against North Dakota on Dec. 12, playing 29 minutes with 15 points and a career-high seven rebounds in a 99-63 Jackrabbit victory.
- The 6-2 guard continued his hot play against Colorado last Friday, breaking the school's Division I freshman single-game scoring mark with 31 while burying seven 3-pointers, tied for fourth-most in a Division I game at SDSU. He teamed with Mike Daum to become the first duo in the school's Division I history to each have 30 or more points in the same game.
Daum Named November Athlete of the Month
South Dakota State's Mike Daum was selected as the Summit League's November Male Athlete of the Month, announced Dec. 7 by the conference office.
Daum helped the Jacks to a 7-2 record through the opening part of the season and averaged a near-double-double, posting 20.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while hitting 22 3-pointers. The Kimball, Nebraska native scored in double figures for all nine contests, including two 30-point performances and five games with 20 or more.
The forward had three consecutive double-doubles from Nov. 12-17, racking up 22 points and 13 rebounds against Mary and 30 points with 13 rebounds against Alabama State before closing the streak with a 21-point, 11-board performance at then-No. 3 Kansas.
Tacoma Talent
Tacoma, Washington native David Jenkins Jr. has burst on the scene through his first month of collegiate basketball, racking up 392 points and 63 3-pointers through 26 games. He has hit at least two 3-pointers in 19 contests and on Dec. 15 at Colorado set the school's freshman single-game scoring record at the Division I level with 31.
The lone West coach native on the Jackrabbit roster has reached double figures in 20 games, becoming the first freshman to accomplish the feat at SDSU since Steve Holdren did it in 16 of his first 23 appearances in 2004-05. Holdren finished the season with 19 double-figure performances over 26 games that year.
Jenkins and Holdren are also the only two Jackrabbit freshmen to lead the team in scoring in their first collegiate game over the last 17 years (dating back to 2000-01 when game-by-game stats were readily available).
Jenkins is second on the team with 15.1 points per game in 2017-18 and has shot 41.8 percent from the field and 38 percent from long distance.
He was named the National Freshman of the Week by CBS Sports and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Dec. 19 after averaging 23 points, four 3-pointers, four rebounds and 1.5 steals per game over two games that week.
He is on pace to challenge Mike Daum's freshman scoring record of 518 points, set in 2015-16. Jenkins has 392 points through 26 games, compared to Daum's 372 points in that span.
Fellow Tacoma native Isaiah Thomas, currently with the Cleveland Cavaliers, had 425 points and 23 double figure games through 26 games of his freshman year at Washington.
Jenkins scored over 2,000 points in his high school career before spending a year at Sunrise Christian Academy Prep School. He was named as a newcomer to watch in The Summit League by TheAthletic.com's John Rohde.
As of Feb. 5 Jenkins sits eighth among Division I freshmen this season in total points.
Daum, Tellinghuisen Continue Rise on Scoring Chart
Mike Daum rose to No. 3 on the Jackrabbit scoring chart in just 88 career games (Jan. 6, 2018) and took over the second spot in 93 career games (Jan. 27, 2018). He broke the 2,000-point barrier on Feb. 1, 2018 and is 356 shy of Nate Wolters (2,363; 2009-13) for the top spot.
Reed Tellinghuisen joined the top 25 in all-time scoring Dec. 12, and is currently 17th with 1,341 career points. He is less than 125 points from the top 10 after joining the 1,000 points club in The Summit League Tournament last season.

#FearFrost
The Jacks own an 87-5 record at Frost Arena over the last six seasons dating back to 2011-12, which includes perfect home records in four of the last five years entering the current season. That span includes two home winning streaks of 30 or more games.
- South Dakota State won 34 consecutive games from Jan. 30, 2014 to Dec. 28, 2016. It ended as the nation's second longest active streak.
- The Jackrabbits won 30 consecutive home games from Jan. 29, 2011 to Nov. 14, 2013.
- SDSU put together undefeated seasons inside Frost Arena the following years: 1984-85 (18-0), 2002-03 (17-0), 2011-12 (14-0), 2012-13 (13-0), 2014-15 (13-0), and 2015-16 (12-0). SDSU is 13-0 at home this year.
- Since 2011-12, South Dakota State has won 94.5 percent of its home games, a mark that ranks second among all Division I programs.
- South Dakota State has won 28 consecutive home nonconference games inside Frost Arena. That mark ranks eighth nationally.
- The Jackrabbits' current 18-game home winning streak ranks as the fifth longest active streak in Division I as of Feb. 5, 2018. Cincinnati holds the current record with 38 straight home wins.
Dynamic Duo
Teammates Mike Daum and Reed Tellinghuisen are back after leading the team in scoring a year ago, and rank among the nation's best as a scoring duo with over 3,300 points between them in their careers. The Jacks are third in total career points as a pair as of Feb. 1, 2018.
Team Quick Hits
- South Dakota State is 9-0 when holding opponents under 70 points this season, while posting an 18-2 record when breaking the 70-point barrier on the offensive end.
- Mike Daum and David Jenkins Jr. became the first Jackrabbit duo in Division I to score 30 or more points in the same game when the pair went for 37 and 31, respectively at Colorado Dec. 15.
- South Dakota State has scored 100 or more four times this season. Prior to the Jackrabbits' 103-67 win over Concordia (Neb.), the previous 100-point game for SDSU was Feb. 28, 2013. The last time SDSU had two or more 100-point games in a season was 2011-12, when the Jackrabbits did it twice. The Division I program record for 100-point games in a season is five, set in 2004-05 and the overall program record is six, set in 1997-98, 1991-92 and 1968-69.
- The Jackrabbits have passed the 90-point mark 11 times this season and have scored 80 or more in 18 games.
- The Jacks are 15-2 when winning the rebounding battle and 5-4 when being out-rebounded or tied on the boards. Twice this year the Jacks have posted a plus-20 rebounding margin. SDSU was 16-1 when outrebounding its opponent last year and 2-16 in games with the same or fewer rebounds.
- Seven Jackrabbits reached double figures at Western Illinois on Jan. 20 for the first time since Nov. 18, 2012 when SDSU did it against the District of Columbia.
- Six Jackrabbits reached double figures against Concordia (Neb.) on Dec. 8 for the first time in a game since Feb. 28, 2013 at Omaha, and did it again Dec. 22 at UMKC.
- Eight times this season the Jackrabbits have had two players score over 20 points in the same game. It last happened Feb. 1 when Mike Daum (31) and David Jenkins Jr. (20) did it against North Dakota State.
- South Dakota State won its 1,500th game Jan. 20 at Western Illinois. The Jacks won their 500th game in Frost Arena last season.
- 2017-18 marked the third time State started 3-0 at the Division I level (dating back to transition year of 2004-05). The Jacks also did it in 2010-11 and 2015-16, when the team started a Division I-best 6-0.
- At least one Jackrabbit has scored in double figures over the last 334 games dating back to Jan. 12, 2008 at IUPUI when Anthony Cordova had nine points to lead the Jacks.
- From Jan. 31, 2009 through the 2013-14 season, SDSU put together a streak of 179 games with at least one 1,000 point scorer on the floor. SDSU snapped a streak of 90 games without a 1,000 point scorer when Mike Daum joined the club on Jan. 21, 2017. SDSU has now restarted a streak of 39 games with at least one 1,000-point scorer on the court.
- State has made at least one 3-pointer in 364 consecutive games. The last time the Jackrabbits did not make a 3-point field goal was Jan. 25, 2007
- SDSU is 92-18 all-time in home openers (where records available). Dating back to 2004-05, SDSU's first year of DI transition, SDSU is 12-2.
- SDSU is 73-39 in season-openers all-time. The Jacks are 6-8 in season-opening games at the Division I level.

Daum Named to Preseason Award Watch Lists
Mike Daum has earned a spot on four national award watch lists for the 2017-18 season, being named a preseason favorite for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year, Oscar Robertson Player of the Year, Lute Olson Player of the Year and John R. Wooden® awards.
- The John R. Wooden® presented by Wendy's® listed Mike Daum among its 50 preseason favorites for the award, released Nov. 14 on ESPN's SportsCenter and on ESPN.com. Chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts. The Wooden Award All American Team will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2018 John R. Wooden Award will be presented during the ESPN College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy's on Friday, April 6, 2018.
- The Karl Malone Award is presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Named after Hall of Famer and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Karl Malone, the annual honor in its fourth year recognizes the top power forwards in Division I men's college basketball. By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2018 Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Mr. Malone and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The winner of the 2018 Karl Malone Award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show presented by Wendy's in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, April 6, 2018.
- Daum was selected as one of 32 players on the 2017-18 Oscar Robertson Trophy Preseason Watch List, announced Nov. 6 by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. The award is presented to the national player of the year by its namesake at the NCAA Final Four in San Antonio. In mid-March, the USBWA will announce its 2017-18 All-America Team and, at that time, finalists will also be chosen for the player of the year. Once finalists are announced, the entire USBWA membership will vote for the winner of the Oscar Robertson Trophy.
- He was announced as one of 40 selections on the CollegeInsider.com Lute Olson Award Watch List Nov. 6 as well. The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I player who has played at least two seasons. The 2017-18 Lute Olson National Player of the Year Award will be announced on March 31, 2018 at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Event in San Antonio, site of the men's NCAA Basketball Championship.
Jacks Seventh in Mid-Major Top 25
The Jackrabbits climbed three spots to No. 7 in the latest College Sports Madness Mid-Major poll, released Feb. 5 by the organization.
The Jackrabbits were 10th last week and sixth the week prior. SDSU has been in the top 10 the last five weeks and ranked in the poll in 13 of 14 versions this season.
The latest edition of the poll features 2017-18 opponents South Dakota (No. 6), Buffalo (No. 9) and Missouri State (RV-4).
SDSU Signs Three
Owen King, Aaron Fiegen and Matthew Mimms signed their National Letters of Intent to join South Dakota State, announced Nov. 11 on National Signing Day.
- King (Caledonia, Minnesota) averaged 19 points, five rebounds and six assists per game as a junior for Caledonia High School. He enters his senior season as the school's all-time leading scorer (1,925 points) and in December was named Minnesota's Associated Press High School Football Player of the Year.
- Fiegen (Madison, South Dakota) was a First Team All-State pick last year, averaging 15.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in 2016-17.
- Mimms (Fairfax, Iowa) is a two-time Iowa State Champion with Xavier High School. He averaged 15.5 points, five assists and 2.3 steals per game as a junior.
Preseason All-Conference Team; Jacks Picked First
Mike Daum and Reed Tellinghuisen made repeat appearances on the Summit League's Preseason All-League teams, announced early-October. Daum was the Preseason Player of the Year with First Team honors while Tellinghuisen picked a Second Team nod for the second straight season.
Daum is the second Jackrabbit to be named Preseason All-Conference and the first to do it twice, joining Nate Wolters (2012-13).
As a team, South Dakota State was picked to win the league for the fourth time in program history.
SDSU Last Time Out (Feb. 1, 2018)
Mike Daum scored his 2,000th career point and South Dakota State picked up its 20th win of the season Thursday night in Frost Arena, taking down North Dakota State 82-63 in front of 3,377 fans.
SDSU (20-6, 8-1) completed the regular sweep of its northern rivals with the victory, shooting 43.1 percent as a team with seven 3-pointers and a 25-for-32 effort at the charity stripe.
Daum posted his fifth consecutive double-double and led the team with 31 points, added 13 boards over 32 minutes.
Tevin King provided a spark on both ends of the court, lighting up the stat sheet with 16 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists. King's scoring and swipe totals equaled his previous career-bests.
David Jenkins Jr. finished with 20 points, scoring 18 in the second half to go with four rebounds.
Scoreless through two minutes, the teams picked up the pace in a back-and-forth first half that saw five lead changes and four ties.
Ahead 15-12 near the 13-minute mark, the Jacks went cold from the field for the next four minutes, but buckled down on the defensive end and held NDSU to just four points in that span. Daum completed an old-fashioned 3-point play at 8:31 to end the drought, and although King followed with a corner 3 to make it a five-point game, the Bison answered to tie it, 24-all at 5:04.
SDSU continued its hot-shooting, however, and broke out on a 13-2 run over the next three minutes to stretch its lead to 11 (37-26) before North Dakota State closed the gap before the buzzer, sending the Jacks to the locker room with a 37-32 lead.
The Jackrabbits burst out of the locker room with six straight from Jenkins, and built the lead to a game-high 17 (61-44) before the nine-minute mark after an 11-3 rally.
With 7:16 left, Daum stepped to the line for a 1-and-1, hit both free throws and calmly jogged back to the defensive end while the crowd erupted as the junior became the 15th player in Summit League history to reach 2,000 points.
In the midst of the historic moment, North Dakota State made it a nine-point game (69-60) on a Cameron Hunter 3-pointer with four minutes to play, but would come no closer as the Jacks recovered the momentum and scored 11 of the game's final 12 points.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Denver men's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday, falling 91-63 at Fort Wayne. The Pioneers fell to 10-13 (4-5 Summit League) on the year, while the Mastodons improved to 16-10 (5-4 SL).
DU got sloppy with the ball, something it had shored up during the win streak, finishing with 20 turnovers in the contest.
Jake Pemberton led the Crimson and Gold with a team-high 12 points.
Both Joe Rosga and Ade Murkey each chipped in with 10.
The combination of Bryson Scott and John Konchar led the way for FW. The duo recorded 43 points, 10 assists and eight steals in the victory.
Denver opened with a 5-0 run to start after a pair of made baskets from Pemberton and Murkey before Fort Wayne responded with eight straight points to go into the first media timeout leading by three. The quick start was the only time they held the lead on the afternoon.
The Mastodons pushed the lead to nine after a Konchar steal and score at the 12:40 mark.
The Pioneers, though, fought back, making it a two-possession game after a 3 from Jake Krafka, his first points of the contest with just under six minutes left in the first half.
FW picked up the defense over the final minutes, allowing it to go into the half up by 13 at 42-29.
Turnovers plagued DU in the first 20 minutes, finishing with 13 in the period. A 7-4 start in the first four minutes of the second half jumped the Fort Wayne lead up to 16.
The Mastodons stepped on the gas from there, building their lead to as many as 30 en route to picking up the victory.
