The South Dakota State track and field teams will split among three meets this weekend in California and Oklahoma.

Seven Jackrabbits will compete at the Stanford Invitational and San Francisco State Distance Carnival while 16 other student-athletes will travel to the Oral Roberts Invitational.

The SMSU Mustang Open that was scheduled this weekend has been cancelled due to poor weather conditions (See here).

Last Time Out
On March 16-17, the Jackrabbits traveled to the Tulsa Duals and competed against two Big XII schools and two Summit League schools to kick off their outdoor schedule.

The meet was dual scored and the Jackrabbits beat every team except for the women's Oklahoma State team.

Individually, sophomore Miatta Flemister-Smith posted a personal-best time in the 100m, improving by 0.01 seconds and etching her name into the 10th-place tie on the school's all-time list.

The men's 4x100m relay "A" team recorded the school's second-fastest time (1. Fr. Cameron Kuil, 2. R-Fr. Coby Hilton, 3. Jr. Zach Schroeder, 4. Jr. Sam Johnson).

Last weekend five of the hammer throwers threw at the Wildcat Classic, posting their first marks of the season.

Senior Colton Bender won the hammer throw competition (197-08.00) while senior Logan Ammons finished runner-up (189-00.00).

Junior Abby Sudbeck recorded the third-best throw in the competition (173-11.00) while freshman Miranda Zinola recorded eighth (143-11.00).

In 2017, the Jackrabbits traveled to the Stanford Invitational, San Francisco State Distance Carnival and SMSU Mustang Open, while some traveled to the Bobcat Invitational.

Notables from 2017

Jr. Rachel King set the school record at the time in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:14.08) at Stanford. She has since reset the school record (10:10.71).
Sr. Trevor Capra finished the 5,000m at the San Francisco State meet in 14:35.06, which was fifth on the South Dakota State's top-10 list. Now the school's 10th-fast time in 14:24.22.
Jr. Emily Donnay finished the 1,500m at the San Francisco State meet with a time of 4:26.95 and moved up one spot to second on the school's top-10 list. She remains there.
So. Bryant Courter claimed third at the Bobcat Invite in the long jump with a then personal-best distance of 24-03.00.
