TULSA, Okla. – The South Dakota State volleyball team fell to Oral Roberts, 3-1 (23-25, 26-24, 16-25, 20-25), on Sunday afternoon in Tulsa, Okla.

The Jackrabbits fell to 4-12 overall and 1-3 in Summit League action, while Oral Roberts improved to 6-12, 2-2 SL.

Leading the Jacks was
Crystal Burk with a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs. Also posting a double-double was
Makenzie Hennen with 12 digs and 10 kills.
Ashlynn Smith ranked second on the team with 11 kills while adding an ace on the day. The setter duo of
Madison Fay and
Carly Wedel was back in action today with 23 and 14 assists, respectively.
Tatum Pickar paced the defense with a career-best 24 digs.

South Dakota State trailed Oral Roberts, 21-11, in the opening set. The Jacks went on an 11-4 run, capped off by back-to-back kills from Smith, but it wasn't quite enough as the Golden Eagles won set one, 25-23.

Two kills from
Sydney Andrews, one by Smith and an Ellie Thine service ace helped the Jacks to an early lead to open the second set. The Jacks had extended their lead to 8-4 when ORU scored six unanswered points to take the lead. The Golden Eagles carried that advantage through the remainder of the set until kills from Burk,
Tori Thompson and a Smith service ace evened the set out at 23-all. A pair of Golden Eagle errors and a kill by Hennen sealed a 26-24 second set victory for State.

ORU pulled ahead to a 13-3 lead over the Jackrabbits to begin the third set. SDSU slowly worked its way back, but the deficit was too much to overcome as the Golden Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-16 third set win.

Oral Roberts held a 9-5 advantage early in the fourth set, when the Jacks scored five unanswered points, highlighted by an ace and a kill from Thompson, to gain a 10-9 edge. The two teams traded short runs until the score was tied at 15-15. The Golden Eagles scored 10 of the final 15 points to seal the match with a 25-20 win in the final set.
