KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) featured
Mike Daum and
David Jenkins on its All-District 12 Team, announced Thursday afternoon.
Â
Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in Division I, Daum was named to the first team for the third-straight year, while Jenkins earned second team honors for the first time. They will advance to the NABC's All-American ballot, with those teams in late March.
Â
Daum averaged 25.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per game for the season, finishing as the only player with a 25-10 double-double average in the NCAA. The three-time Summit League Player of the Year concluded his career as the school's all-time leader in points, rebounds, field goals, 3-pointers and free throws. He is seventh all-time in NCAA history with 3,067 career points.
Â
Jenkins finished the campaign with a 19.7 per game scoring average, draining a school-record 112 3-pointers during the year. He dropped 20 or more points in 15 games and reached double figures in 30 contests, including a career-best 35 against Memphis. The Tacoma, Washington native became the 48th member of the school's 1,000-point club and ranks 25th all-time at SDSU with 1,194 points.
Â
Located in Kansas City, the NABC was founded in 1927 by Phog Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches.Â
Â
All members of the NABC are expected to uphold the core values of being a Guardian of the Game by bringing attention to the positive aspects of the sport of basketball and the role coaches play in the academic and athletic lives of today's student-athletes. The four core values of being a Guardian of the Game are advocacy, leadership, service and education. Additional information about the NABC, its programs and membership, can be found at www.nabc.com.
