Incoming Jackrabbits Doug Wilson and Tray Buchanan were recognized as NJCAA Division II All-Americans this week, and on Thursday the organization announced Wilson as its 2018-19 National Player of the Year. Wilson is a First Team All-American and Tray Buchanan, who committed to the Jackrabbits earlier this month, picked up third team honors.

Wilson played two seasons with Kirkwood Community College and claimed the NJCAA's National Championship which his Eagle team this year. He averaged 21 points and 8.7 rebounds this season and reached double figures in 32 games (out of 34 appearances). He shot a net-scorching 67 percent from the field as a sophomore and buried 70 percent of his free throws to go with 11 double-doubles. The Des Moines, Iowa native was an NJCAA Second Team All-American a year ago, and for his career at Kirkwood averaged 17.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

Buchanan, who committed to the Jackrabbits earlier this month, spent a year at Des Moines Area Community College after a season with North Dakota. Buchanan had 19.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game for DMACC in 2018-19, shooting 46 percent with 77 3-pointers. From East Moline, Illinois, Buchanan reached double figures in 28 games and led the Bears with 73 steals.
