MINNEAPOLIS— The South Dakota State track and field teams hit the road for the first time this season Friday and Saturday at the Jack Johnson Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota.Â
Freshman
Annie Wendt picked up first place and the new third best all-time mark in the women's long jump at 19-02.00, while
Emily Altenburg grabbed third with a jump of 17-04.75. Later in the meet, Wendt's triple jump of 36-07.00 earned her second place. Unattached Jackrabbit
Jaymie O'Connor took first in the women's 60m hurdles finals with a mark of 8.60.
Haley Mottinger came in third with a mark of 8.87.Â
Emily Altenburg finished third for the Jackrabbits in the women's 60m dash finals with a mark of 7.87.
From there, the Jacks went 2-3-4 in the women's high jump.
Addison Eisenbeisz jumped a personal best 5-07.24 and continues to hold SDSU's eighth best all-time mark.
Chloe Holtz jumped 5-05.25 and
Madison Mingo turned in a 5-03.25, beating her previous best by 1/4 inch.
Oksana Covey ran a 57.35 to take first place in the women's 400.
SDSU's 4x400Â relay made up of
Lauren Van Dyke,
Hannah Whitbread, Delaney Carslon and
Oksana Covey took second place with a time of 4:01.27.
Nick Wessels won the men's 60m hurdles finals with a time of 8.10, while
Jacob Lackas finished fourth with a 8.26 and picked up a personal best and the new eighth best all-time mark.
Coby Hilton took third in the men's 60m dash finals with a mark of 6.91.
Caleb Bray (50.20),
Cameron Kuil (50.27) and Mitch Acker (50.58) went 1-3-4 for the Jackrabbits in the men's 400m.Â
In the pole vaiult,
Trent Francom matched his career-best height of 17-00.25 to take second in the men's pole vault.
In the jumping pits, the Jacks went 1-3-4 in the long jump.
Daniel Clarke lead with a jump of 23-02.75,
Evan Hieber followed with a mark of 22-05.25 and
Tre Manning jumped for 22-04.50.
Trey Tiefenthaler leaped 44-05.25 to take third place in the triple jump, and Tom Breuckman took third in the men's 3000 with a time of 8:30.98. To wrap things up, the Jackrabbits 4x400 relay squad of Emmanuel Phoulom-Smith,
Reid Pierzinski,
Caleb Bray and
Landon Larson took second with a mark of 3:18.09.

The Jackrabbits hit the road again next weekend, splitting up to head to Lincoln, Neb. for the Frank Sevigne Adidias Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska and Vermillion, S.D. for the USD Dakota Realty/Alumni Open.
